My time as a language partner has allowed me to build the capacity of international students at our University through the development of their linguistic skills. Each semester I was paired with a student and met with them on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. During these meeting we would typically discuss American culture and University happenings. The primary purpose of these interactions was to allow a space for casual conversation in which students could practice their language skills.

Working with international students fostered my interest in teaching english and working with academia in a new light. Additionally, working with so many diverse people from across the globe has enhanced my intercultural communication skills. Through communication, both my language partners and myself were able to break down cultural boundaries and misconceptions to build a strong foundation for cultural exchange. I hope to continue working with students in the future and fostering their ability to succeed.
